Police Seize Rifle, Pistol in Northern Israel; Suspect Arrested

Police in Israel's Northern District, alongside Border Guard forces, apprehended a 30-year-old suspect on August 31, 2026, after discovering a cache of illegal weapons in the town of Al-Kamana in the Galilee region. The discovery was made during a targeted operation involving the Yassam unit and the Northern Guard of the Border Police, with assistance from a police dog handler and his canine partner, Loki.

The search, which took place among bushes, yielded a Carlo rifle, a Glock pistol, and ammunition magazines. The suspect, a resident of Al-Kamana, was arrested at the scene. His detention was extended by the Akko Magistrate's Court until September 3, 2026, pending further investigation.

According to police statements, this operation is part of a broader effort to combat violent crime. Since the beginning of the year, Northern District police and Border Guard fighters have confiscated over 610 lethal weapons and arrested armed individuals caught in the act.
