Hebron Yeshiva Rosh Yeshiva Urges Donations for 69 Orphans Marrying in Tammuz

Officials at Kupat Ha'ir say their data show a heavy need for special assistance for widowed children in the Haredi community. According to the organization, 60 orphaned brides and grooms are marrying during the month of Tammuz, and a total of 69 orphans are now preparing for weddings while lacking the financial and emotional support of parents.

Kupat Ha'ir rabbis brought the issue to Rabbi David Cohen, head of the Hebron Yeshiva, and described the burden of covering the large wedding costs. The article says these young men and women must build new homes without the natural backing of parents who would normally guide and support them, leaving them exposed to severe financial strain.

Rabbi Cohen responded with an unusual public appeal and wrote a personal blessing for donors. He called on the public to contribute 690 shekels for the 69 orphans marrying in Tammuz 5786, saying that those who help bring joy to these brides and grooms will merit joy from all of their descendants and, in his words, "Siyata diShmaya mifla'ah bechhinuch ha'banim," extraordinary heavenly assistance in raising children.

Kupat Ha'ir is urging the public to join the campaign and help fund the weddings immediately. The appeal presents the donation as a chance both to ease the orphans' burden and to receive Rabbi Cohen's written blessing.
