Israeli Tourists Lead Cyprus Spending Per Day

מאת Вести-Ynet

The story · English

Israeli tourists were the highest daily spenders in Cyprus in June, averaging 174.27 euros per day, according to data from the Cyprus Central Statistical Service reported by Ynet. This figure significantly surpasses tourists from other nations, including the UK (103.98 euros), Poland (84.37 euros), Greece (76.63 euros), Finland (70.73 euros), and even Norway (143.28 euros). Notably, American tourists spent considerably less at 62.17 euros daily, making Israeli daily expenditures nearly triple theirs.

Despite their high daily spending, Israelis tend to stay for shorter periods. In June, the average stay for an Israeli tourist was just 3.9 days, compared to the overall average of 8.2 days for all tourists. This shorter duration resulted in a lower average total spending per trip for Israelis, at 679.65 euros, compared to the overall average of 863.62 euros for all foreign tourists. The article notes that these figures likely include accommodation costs.

Israelis are becoming an increasingly significant segment of the Cypriot tourism market. In June 2026, 80,343 Israeli citizens visited Cyprus, representing 16.4% of all tourists, making Israel the second-largest source of tourists after the UK. This trend continued into July 2026, with 119,293 Israelis visiting, accounting for 20.5% of all visitors, meaning one in five tourists was from Israel. This marks a substantial increase from 2025, when Israelis constituted only 13% of the tourist population.

Overall tourism revenue for Cyprus in June 2026 saw a slight increase of 0.2% compared to the previous year, reaching 423.1 million euros. However, for the first half of 2026, total tourism income decreased by 11.4% year-on-year, amounting to 1.22 billion euros.
