Israeli Tourists Lead Spending in Cyprus Despite Shorter Stays

Israeli tourists visiting Cyprus are spending more per day than visitors from any other country, according to data from the Cyprus Statistical Service for June. On average, an Israeli tourist spent 174.27 euros daily, significantly higher than the 103.98 euros spent by British tourists and 84.37 euros by Polish tourists. This daily expenditure is nearly three times that of American tourists and more than double that of Greek tourists.

However, the high daily spending is offset by shorter stays. Israelis averaged only 3.9 days in Cyprus in June, compared to the overall average of 8.2 days for all tourists. Consequently, the total average spending per Israeli tourist during their entire visit was 679.65 euros, less than the 863.62 euros spent by the average tourist overall.

Despite the shorter stays, the number of Israeli visitors remains substantial. In June, 80,343 Israelis visited Cyprus, making up 16.4% of all tourists and ranking Israel second in visitor numbers after the UK. This trend continued in July, with 119,293 Israelis visiting, accounting for 20.5% of all tourists.

Compared to the previous year, Israeli tourism has grown. Throughout 2025, Israelis constituted 13% of all tourists in Cyprus, also placing Israel second in visitor numbers. While Israeli spending is high, Cyprus's overall tourism revenue in June saw a slight increase of 0.2% year-on-year, reaching 423.1 million euros. However, revenue for the first half of 2026 decreased by 11.4% compared to the same period in 2025, totaling 1.22 billion euros.
