Renault Symbioz Arrives in Israel With Hybrid Power and One Trim

Renault is bringing the Symbioz to Israel as a new family-oriented crossover positioned between the smaller Captur and the larger Austral. It will be offered with one hybrid powertrain and one trim level, and the first disclosed price starts at 160,000 shekels, about 6,000 to 8,000 shekels more than the Captur.

The Symbioz uses Renault’s updated hybrid system, pairing a 1.8-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor for a combined 160 hp. Power goes to the front wheels through a smart automatic transmission with four ratios for the petrol engine and two for the electric motor, creating 14 operating combinations. Renault says this helps keep power available while delivering fuel consumption of 22.7 km per liter. The crossover accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.1 seconds and reaches 180 km/h. Towing capacity is 730 kg, or 1,000 kg for a braked trailer.

The car comes only in the “Techno” trim, which includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.4-inch Google-based multimedia screen, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree cameras, wireless charging, rain and light sensors, an anti-glare rearview mirror and 18-inch wheels, including a spare wheel. A darkening panoramic roof with four settings is available for an extra 7,000 shekels.

Safety equipment includes six airbags and the usual driver-assistance systems, plus adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning with intervention, rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, door-opening warning, traffic-sign recognition, and driver drowsiness and distraction alerts. The Symbioz has a safety score of 7 out of 8 from Israel’s Transport Ministry and received four stars in Euro NCAP’s 2024 crash tests. Compared with the Captur’s Techno trim, it omits features such as leather trim, a heated steering wheel and ambient lighting, but adds a full digital cluster, surround cameras and more safety systems.
