Bonnie Tyler Wakes From Induced Coma, Remains in Critical Care

British singer Bonnie Tyler, 75, has come out of the induced coma she was placed in after emergency intestinal surgery in Portugal, but she remains in very serious condition in intensive care. Her spokesman said the news was shared in a formal statement on Monday, and that she had been hospitalized in May in the city of Faro.

According to the statement on her website, Tyler is no longer in a coma but is still “very serious” and being treated in a Portuguese hospital’s ICU. Her doctors said her condition is improving, but slowly. They remain confident she will recover well, though it will take time.

The singer’s team said Tyler is aware of the worldwide support from fans and appreciates the recovery wishes she has received. They also asked the public to respect her privacy and said future updates will be released only if there are significant changes in her condition.

Because of the prolonged hospitalization, Tyler’s planned summer tour will be canceled or postponed, while some autumn dates may still go ahead depending on how quickly she recovers. Her team apologized to fans and partners for the disruption and said, “We hope to see you next year.”
