Bonnie Tyler Wakes From Induced Coma, Remains in Critical Condition

British singer Bonnie Tyler, 75, has come out of the induced coma that followed emergency bowel surgery in Faro, Portugal, in May, but she is still in a very serious condition in intensive care. A statement from her representative, published Monday, said her recovery is progressing slowly.

The statement on Tyler’s website said she is no longer in a coma but remains hospitalized in a Portuguese ICU. Her doctors believe she will recover well, but “it will take time.” Tyler is aware of the support she has received from fans around the world and appreciates their well-wishes.

Her team asked for privacy and said further updates will be released only if there are significant changes in her condition. Because of the prolonged hospitalization, Tyler’s planned summer tour will be canceled or postponed, while some shows scheduled for the autumn may still go ahead depending on how quickly she improves.

Her staff apologized to fans and partners for the disruption and disappointment, ending the statement with the hope of seeing audiences “next year.”
