Israel Reports Suspected Ebola Case in Traveler Returning From Congo

Israel's Ministry of Health announced on Monday that a person who recently returned from the Democratic Republic of Congo is suspected of having contracted Ebola. The individual, who arrived in Israel several days ago, sought medical attention after developing a fever and other symptoms. Currently, the case is only a suspicion, and necessary tests are underway, with results expected in the coming days.

The Ministry of Health stated that the individual will be treated under isolation protocols for high-risk infectious diseases. They will be transferred to Ichilov Medical Center in Tel Aviv, designated as one of the specialized centers for handling such suspected cases.

In accordance with established procedures, the Ministry of Health is conducting an epidemiological investigation to identify relevant contacts. Individuals not contacted by the Ministry are not required to take any action at this time.

This incident follows a similar report approximately two months ago of another suspected Ebola case in a traveler returning from the Democratic Republic of Congo. An Ebola outbreak has been spreading in eastern Congo in recent months, with over 2,000 infections and hundreds of deaths reported as of last month.
