Nahariya police expose alleged months-long domestic abuse case after outside tip

The story · English

A complaint from a third party to Nahariya police led to the exposure of a severe domestic violence case in which a 45-year-old man from Kafr Yasif, Issam Daoud, was indicted for assaulting and threatening his partner. According to the indictment, the two lived together in Kahal, and over many months he allegedly carried out repeated physical attacks, including choking her, dragging her on the floor, and slamming her against walls, causing bruising and ongoing fear.

The indictment also alleges repeated threats. In one incident he allegedly told her, “I’ll slap you and break your face,” in another he said, “I’ll throw all of you out of here, I’ll burn all of Kahal,” and in a further threat he said a blow would make her “pee yourself.” Investigators said the abuse also targeted the woman’s autistic daughter.

The probe was led by Chief Inspector Neta Sharon, Nahariya station’s intelligence officer, who said the woman initially minimized what happened and did not cooperate. “The woman initially did not cooperate with the complaint, she downplayed everything,” Sharon said. She added that the case came first from the woman’s brothers, not from her, and that officers repeatedly summoned her, took multiple statements, and gradually got her to open up.

Police say the most serious incident happened at the start of the month, when the suspect allegedly blocked her from using the bathroom, slapped her, pulled her hair, and later stood over her in the yard holding an axe. At that point, the indictment says, he threatened her, “I’ll cut you into 3.” Daoud denied the allegations in questioning. Police say they offered the complainant protection measures, including shelter options and access to the 100 police app, and Sharon called for lengthy prison terms in such cases.
