Wife Arrested for Years of Severe Domestic Abuse Against Husband and Children in Nazareth Area
A rare case of a woman arrested on suspicion of domestic violence against her husband has emerged from a village near Nazareth. The husband endured years of daily physical abuse, including punches and beatings, before finally breaking his silence and reporting her to the police. On June 16, police received a report about the woman attacking her children and fleeing the house. Officers detained her for questioning and launched an investigation.
According to Chief Investigator Sr. Sgt. Sharbel Asmir of the Nazareth Police, the woman exhibited violent behavior by destroying household items and physically assaulting her daughter. The husband and children fled to the balcony to escape her attacks. When questioned, the husband revealed that for the past two years he had been subjected to daily violence by his wife, including being hit with a mop and having a glass thrown at him. Evidence collected supports his claims.
The woman faces multiple charges including causing serious injury to her husband on three occasions, assaulting a minor, intentional property damage, and repeated aggravated assaults on family members. The indictment details incidents from 2024 to 2026, such as scratching the husband with a knife causing bleeding and hitting him with a mop causing pain.
The defendant’s public defender, attorney Nayla Okhel, denied all allegations, describing her client as a normal woman with no criminal record who loves her children and husband. She claims the woman is actually a victim of prior domestic abuse and insists she never harmed her family. The woman remains in custody as her defense seeks her release, warning that imprisonment could cause harm.
This case highlights the complexities of domestic violence, especially when the victim is male, and is now proceeding through the Nazareth Magistrate’s Court.
