Israeli Paratroopers Complete Three-Month Gaza Operation, Shift to West Bank

The Israeli Paratroopers Brigade has concluded a three-month mission in the Gaza Strip, during which they focused on defense and clearing terror infrastructure along the so-called "yellow line." Operating under the command of the Gaza Division and the 99th Division, the troops worked closely with the Engineering Corps (Yahalom) to locate and destroy underground tunnels. They sealed and demolished subterranean routes totaling 13 kilometers, including part of the tunnel where Lieutenant Hadar Goldin was held captive.

In addition to underground operations, the brigade destroyed terror infrastructure and uncovered Hamas weaponry such as RPG rockets, mortar shells, grenades, launchers, and ammunition. They also established new routes and positions to enhance security in the area. Following the completion of their Gaza mission, the paratroopers are now redeploying to the West Bank, specifically the Judea and Samaria region.

The IDF emphasized that while the Paratroopers Brigade is withdrawing, forces under Southern Command remain deployed in Gaza according to the ceasefire arrangement and will continue to act against any immediate threats. Concurrently, Defense Minister Israel Katz concluded a visit to Central Command with Prime Minister Netanyahu, the IDF Chief of Staff, and senior military officials. They reviewed the security situation, including the fight against terrorism and settlement growth.

Katz highlighted a continued decline in Palestinian terror attacks in the West Bank for the second consecutive year, reaching unprecedented low levels. He credited this improvement to the government's offensive policies, including evacuating refugee camps in northern Samaria, demolishing terror infrastructure, and maintaining a permanent IDF presence there. Katz stated these measures have significantly weakened terrorist capabilities and contributed greatly to the dramatic reduction in attacks.
