IDF Paratroopers Complete Gaza Tunnel Destruction, Shift Focus to West Bank Security

The Israeli Defense Forces' Paratroopers Brigade concluded a three-month intensive operation in the Gaza Strip's "yellow line" area, successfully destroying 13 kilometers of Hamas terror tunnels and establishing new military positions. Operating under the Gaza Division (143) and Division 99, the brigade focused on eliminating underground tunnel networks built by Hamas over several years, neutralizing immediate threats to IDF forces and southern Israeli communities.

The operation included collaboration with the Yahalom unit to seal tunnel routes, including the section where Lieutenant Hadar Goldin was held captive after the 2014 Operation Protective Edge until his body was returned in a prisoner exchange. The forces also uncovered a wide array of Hamas weaponry such as RPG rockets, mortar shells, grenades, launchers, and various ammunition.

Following the completion of their mission in Gaza, the Paratroopers Brigade is redeploying to the West Bank to strengthen security efforts amid ongoing operations in Gaza. The Southern Command will maintain deployments in the region according to the ceasefire framework, aiming to eliminate immediate threats to the Negev communities and IDF personnel. This operation is part of a broader IDF campaign to dismantle Hamas terror infrastructure and prevent the reorganization of terror groups in Gaza.
