Singer Sasson Shaulov Indicted for Running Red Light Causing Injury in Tel Aviv Crash
About six weeks after a traffic accident in Tel Aviv, singer Sasson Shaulov has been formally indicted for running a red light and causing a collision that injured two people. The incident occurred on July 3 at 1:58 a.m. at the intersection of Herzl Street and Jaffa Road, where Shaulov was driving a BMW northbound on Herzl. According to the indictment, the traffic lights were functioning properly, and Shaulov failed to notice the red light and an oncoming vehicle traveling eastbound on Jaffa Road, entering the intersection unlawfully. This reckless driving caused a collision with another car carrying three 18-year-old passengers from Netanya, including the driver Thomas and passenger Daniel. Both the driver and a passenger in the other vehicle sustained injuries requiring medical treatment, and both cars were damaged. The young passengers later confirmed Shaulov admitted to being the driver at the scene. Shaulov faces charges of negligent driving, with potential penalties of up to five years in prison. The indictment was submitted to the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Traffic Court on Sunday.
