Former Supreme Court Justice Alron Tells High Court to Freeze Ravilo Appointment
Former Supreme Court Justice Yosef Elron filed his preliminary response on Monday to petitions challenging the election of attorney Michael Ravilo as State Comptroller in a Knesset vote.
In his filing, Elron sided with the petitioners, but only insofar as their claims concern what he described as the illegality of the second round of voting. He also joined the request for an interim order from the High Court of Justice to freeze Ravilo’s entry into the State Comptroller post.
The response adds judicial support to the legal challenge against the appointment process and specifically targets the validity of the vote that selected Ravilo.
