Retired Supreme Court Justice Alron Urges Halt to Michael Rabilo’s Appointment
Retired Supreme Court Justice Yosef Alron filed his response on Monday to petitions challenging Michael Rabilo’s appointment as state comptroller. According to a report by Avishai Grinzig, Alron argued that the second vote on the appointment was unlawful and asked that Rabilo’s entry into office be frozen.
In his filing, Alron said he was joining the petitioners’ claims only insofar as they concern the legality of the second vote, which took place in the Knesset. He also asked the court to grant the remedies requested in the petitions, including an interim order suspending Rabilo’s assumption of the comptroller post.
At the same time, Alron appears to be distancing himself from the conflict-of-interest claim raised against Rabilo by MK Lazimi through Holtz-Lchner. The response does not adopt that argument, focusing instead on the alleged illegality of the second vote.
