Google Gemini AI Summarizes Lengthy Books and Contracts Instantly
Google's new AI tool, Gemini, can quickly summarize lengthy books and complex contracts, saving users significant time and effort. In a recent experiment, Gemini was tested with the 1,000-page fantasy novel "Words of Radiance." While a basic summary was initially generated from online sources, uploading a DRM-free version of the book directly to Google Drive enabled Gemini to produce a detailed summary. This included spoilers, explanations of intricate magic systems, character relationships, and motivations, making it easier for readers to recall plot details without rereading the entire book. Users can even request summaries up to a specific chapter without revealing spoilers for the rest of the story. However, the technology is not flawless and may confuse titles within a series or provide inaccurate information, especially for newer or less-known books.
Beyond books, Gemini proves highly effective for summarizing lengthy documents such as rental agreements and legal contracts. In practical tests, uploading a 200-page lease contract allowed Gemini to identify problematic clauses and generate a detailed list of points requiring clarification before signing. This capability positions Gemini as a valuable personal assistant for managing both literary content and everyday paperwork, helping users organize information and save valuable time.
