16-Year-Old Entrepreneur Receives Official Exemption From Mandatory Schooling Law

Shneor Barbi, a 16-year-old Israeli entrepreneur, has been granted an official exemption from the mandatory education law due to his business success and financial independence. This rare case marks a formal recognition by the education system allowing a young entrepreneur to leave school to focus on managing his own business. Barbi revealed in a social media video that he made a deal with his parents to leave school if he reached a monthly profit of 20,000 shekels.

In an interview on the program "HaOlam HaBoker," Barbi explained that continuing school was harming his business, prompting his decision to prioritize his entrepreneurial activities. He teaches marketing to business owners, helping them build audiences and strengthen their online presence, which enabled him to achieve his income goal. Despite the risks, Barbi expressed confidence in his path, stating, "I am an entrepreneur. I do not rely on my profession but on myself."

Regarding his peers' reactions, Barbi said he receives many messages daily about his choice and acknowledged that this decision may not be suitable for every child. His case highlights a unique intersection of education policy and youth entrepreneurship in Israel.
