Three Northern Israel Residents Indicted for Double Murder in Golan Heights
The Northern District Prosecutor's Office filed serious indictments on Thursday against three men from northern Israel, aged 43, 28, and 19, accused of a double murder in June 2026 in Bukata, Golan Heights. The victims were Marwan Abu Shaheen, 52, a local resident, and Saada Saada, 56, from Hurfeish. According to the indictment, the criminal gang planned the assassination in advance, renting a cabin in Bukata and acquiring two vehicles from a car lot in Usfiya the day before the killings.
Following a covert investigation by the Northern District Police, several suspects were arrested and multiple vehicles seized, including the one used in the murders. The main suspect evaded capture for about two weeks until he was identified and arrested during a nighttime operation in Yarka after shooting and seriously wounding a man. He was found armed and linked to the Golan double murder.
Separately, the Haifa District Prosecutor charged two northern youths, aged 17 and 19, with planning and executing a murder last month in Tamra. They allegedly shot and killed 34-year-old barber Yasser Abu Elhija during a shooting at his barbershop, also seriously injuring a 39-year-old customer who was likely the intended target. The indictments were submitted along with requests to detain the suspects until the conclusion of legal proceedings.
