Israeli Police Arrest Suspects in Northern Double Murder Amid Ongoing Crime Crackdown
Israeli police have arrested two main suspects linked to a double murder that occurred about a month ago in the Druze village of Bukata in the Golan Heights. The arrests took place on Monday during a covert operation in the northern village of Yarka, where the suspects were apprehended alongside seven additional individuals believed to be involved.
One of the primary suspects was caught in the act of attempting another assassination in Yarka, firing shots at a man who was seriously wounded. Police officers pursuing the shooter managed to stop him as he tried to flee on a motorcycle. A Glock pistol and other evidence were seized from the suspect's vehicle. The second main suspect was also detained later during the operation.
The police intend to request extended detention for all nine suspects as investigations continue. The original double murder involved two men in their 40s and 50s who were shot while sitting in their car in Bukata, a Druze community in the Golan Heights. This arrest is part of ongoing efforts to combat crime within the Arab sector in northern Israel.
