Israeli Police and Shin Bet Arrest Suspect in Northern Shooting After Hours-Long Manhunt
After an extensive manhunt and security sweeps, Israeli counterterrorism unit Yamam apprehended a suspect believed to have carried out a shooting incident overnight near the city of Shefa-'Amr in northern Israel. The arrest was made following intelligence guidance from the Shin Bet and prolonged searches conducted by security forces. During the operation, Yamam and other units also detained two additional suspects. All detainees have been transferred for joint investigation by the Shin Bet and the Northern District of the Israel Police.
The suspect's identity and investigation details are under a gag order issued by Akko Magistrate Judge Rami Nasser, prohibiting publication of any case information. Earlier on the day of the arrest, police and Shin Bet had announced a wide-scale manhunt involving special forces across the Haifa and Northern Districts. Authorities urged the public to remain vigilant, report any relevant information to emergency number 100, and warned that the suspect was believed to be armed, advising against approaching him and to immediately notify security forces if sighted.
