Israeli Police Capture Suspected Shooter After Manhunt in Northern Israel
Israeli security forces apprehended a suspect following an extensive manhunt in the Krayot area of northern Israel. The arrest was carried out by the Yamam counterterrorism unit with intelligence support from the Shin Bet. Alongside the main suspect, two additional individuals were also detained during the operation. All three were transferred to Shin Bet for interrogation.
Earlier in the day, urgent warnings were issued in the Krayot region, urging residents to stay indoors and remain in protected spaces due to the ongoing search for the shooter. The suspect is believed to be connected to a shooting incident in the city of Shefa-Amr and fled toward the Krayot area, raising initial concerns about a potential security threat. However, police later clarified that the risk level had been downgraded, while still advising the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings of the suspect, who may be armed.
A gag order was imposed by the court on details of the investigation, limiting public disclosure. The police and Shin Bet continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the suspect's motives.
