Ben Gvir Says Trump-Lebanon Ceasefire Deal Does Not Bind Israel
National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir said the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon promoted by U.S. President Donald Trump does not obligate Israel. He argued that Israel is not subordinate to the United States and is an independent, sovereign state.
"Israel is not subject to the United States and we are an independent and sovereign country. We are not partners to this agreement, which does not take our security into account," Ben Gvir said.
He added that Israel should not accept less than the dismantling of Hezbollah. He also said Israel must not withdraw from areas captured by Israel Defense Forces fighters, and must not remain silent in the face of fire directed at Israel.
