Netanyahu Tells Trump Israel Will Not Pull Back From Lebanon
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told U.S. President Donald Trump that Israel does not intend to withdraw from its current positions in Lebanon and does not consider itself bound by the Lebanon clause in the emerging U.S.-Iran agreement. According to Israeli sources cited by ynet, Netanyahu made clear in their conversation overnight that Israel will keep acting against the Hezbollah threat.
He said the Israel Defense Forces would continue to disrupt Hezbollah, including destroying terror infrastructure and responding to any attack aimed at Israel. The message was that Israel will not accept any limits on its military freedom of action in Lebanon.
At the latest Security Cabinet meeting, Netanyahu received full backing for that stance. Ministers were told that Israel would not agree to commit to the Lebanon clause in any deal with Iran, effectively rejecting any constraint on its operational room.
IDF officials said operations in Lebanon will continue according to strategic security goals, including preventing the rebuilding of new terror infrastructure and strengthening protection for northern Israeli communities.
