Young Woman Dies in Holon Fire; Firefighters Found Her in Bed
Shirel Israeli, a 24-year-old woman, died overnight in a fire that broke out in a residential unit in the industrial area of Holon. Her brother, Rahamim Israeli, told ynet that firefighters found her on the bed, suggesting she may have died in her sleep before the fire spread. The fire was reported at 06:09 by Magen David Adom emergency services, who found her with burns and smoke inhalation and pronounced her dead at the scene.
Shirel was due to celebrate her 25th birthday in two weeks. She worked in security and delivery and rented the unit where the fire occurred. Rahamim said she had recently taken over the unit from him and planned to move out soon. Despite being in an industrial zone, she appreciated the quiet and parking availability.
The owner of the unit expressed sorrow over the loss of such a young tenant and awaits the investigation results. Dan District Fire and Rescue Commander Oren Shishitzki ordered a special investigation team to determine the fire's cause, with fire and forensic investigators collecting evidence to establish whether it was arson or a technical fault. Security camera footage was also reviewed. The fire spread rapidly, consuming the unit within minutes, exacerbated by the flammable materials used in its construction.
Rahamim and their father intend to closely follow the investigation to understand the exact circumstances of Shirel's death.
