Lyles Tops Eurohoops’ List of the Best EuroLeague Free Agents

As the European basketball season nears its end, Eurohoops began looking ahead to next season and on Sunday published its ranking of the 10 best free agents in the EuroLeague. Reporter Stefan Achevski placed Real Madrid star Trey Lyles at No. 1, noting that he is one of Hapoel Tel Aviv’s main targets.

The list also includes several players linked to Israeli clubs. Timothy Luwawu-Cabarrot, another leading target for Maccabi Tel Aviv, was ranked second and is reportedly in talks with Villeurbanne. Carsen Edwards, also a top Maccabi target, was placed sixth and is expected to sign with Zalgiris. Zack LeDay, who previously played in Israel for Gilboa/Galil and has been mentioned as a Hapoel Tel Aviv candidate, appears fourth. Cory Joseph, who made his EuroLeague debut this season, is also on the list.

Eurohoops’ top 10 is rounded out by Shavon Shields at No. 3, Daniel Theis at No. 5 and ranked as being in talks with Villeurbanne, Braxton Key at No. 8, Kostas Papanikolaou at No. 9 with no expectation of leaving Olympiacos, and Tomas Satoransky at No. 10. The article also notes that Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Tel Aviv will be among the clubs seeking to strengthen for next season.

According to the report, 19 of the 20 EuroLeague teams have already secured their place in next season’s competition. If Monaco is eliminated, Besiktas is likely to take its spot.
