WhatsApp Rolls Out Media Preview Thumbnails in Android Chat List
WhatsApp has begun releasing an update for its Android app that enhances the chat list by showing preview thumbnails of the latest media messages. Previously, when the last message in a chat contained media such as photos, videos, or stickers, the chat list only displayed a text label indicating the type of content, like "photo," "video," or "sticker." Users had to open the chat to see the actual content.
With the new update, users will see a small thumbnail image alongside the label directly in the chat list. For photos, a miniature version of the image will appear; for videos, a thumbnail from the video will be shown; and stickers will also have a preview. This change allows users to quickly identify the content of the last message without opening the conversation.
According to WABetaInfo, this feature is currently available in WhatsApp beta version 2.26.32.11 for Android and is being rolled out to a limited number of beta testers. Not all beta users have access yet, but WhatsApp plans to expand availability to more users in the coming weeks. No official release date has been announced for when the feature will be available to all users.
