Pakistan says U.S.-Iran deal reached, signing set for Friday in Switzerland
Pakistan’s prime minister announced overnight between Sunday and Monday that the United States and Iran have reached a deal after intensive talks. According to his statement, both sides agreed to an immediate and permanent halt to military activity in all arenas, including Lebanon.
The official signing ceremony is scheduled for Friday, June 19, in Switzerland. The prime minister said the agreement reflects a diplomatic path to ending the conflict and thanked both Washington and Tehran for their commitment to reaching a solution.
He also praised Qatar for supporting the mediation effort, and singled out Saudi Arabia and Turkey for their significant contribution to the process. In his remarks, he said the mediators are working with a sense of brotherhood and gratitude for their role in advancing the deal.
According to the prime minister, mediators will hold a series of meetings during the week. Those preliminary talks are meant to lay the groundwork for technical discussions and the formal signing ceremony.
