Pakistan Says U.S. and Iran Have Reached a Peace Deal
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said overnight between Sunday and Monday that the United States and Iran had reached a “peace agreement.” He said the deal will be signed formally on June 19 in Switzerland.
Sharif added that both sides have declared an immediate and permanent end to military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon. He did not provide further details on the contents of the accord or how it was negotiated.
According to Sharif, once the agreement takes effect, the mediating parties will help arrange a series of meetings this week. The announcement marks the first public claim of such an agreement from Pakistan’s leader.
