IDF Reverses Decision to Evict Palestinian Families in Kusra Village

The Israel Defense Forces announced on Thursday afternoon that they have reversed their earlier decision to evict Palestinian families from their homes in the West Bank village of Kusra. A new statement from the IDF spokesperson clarified that troops who had begun positioning themselves in the village earlier that day were instructed to allow residents to remain in their homes. The forces will not operate in the house adjacent to the dismantled military structure.

The IDF explained that since the morning, troops have been stationed in Kusra to protect residents and maintain security in the area, emphasizing that residents are permitted to stay in their homes. This clarification follows the original military plan, which was set to continue until Sunday and included evacuating Palestinian residents and taking control of buildings for operational purposes.

Kusra had recently been the focus of tensions after extremist Jewish groups besieged parts of the village, sparking international condemnation, including from the U.S. administration. In response to the backlash, the IDF now stresses that families will not be displaced and that military activity will aim to minimize disruption to the village's daily life.
