Google Upgrades Freeplay Service with 10,000+ Free Movies and 300 Live Channels

Google has announced a major upgrade to its free streaming service, Google TV Freeplay, which will now offer over 10,000 movies and TV shows on demand at no cost. This enhancement eliminates the need for paid subscriptions to platforms like Netflix, allowing viewers to watch a vast library of content without registration or fees. The service is integrated into smart TVs from leading brands such as Sony, TCL, and Hisense.

The expanded catalog includes award-winning films like "Lady Bird" and popular titles such as "17 Again," made possible through partnerships with entertainment giants like A24 and Lionsgate. In addition to on-demand content, Google TV Freeplay now features more than 300 free live channels, up from about 250 previously. These channels cover news, sports, reality TV, and lifestyle programming, including Bloomberg, Yahoo Sports, "Love Island Live," and Martha Stewart's lifestyle channel.

A key advantage of this upgrade is the shift to on-demand viewing, giving users full control over what and when they watch, unlike many free services that primarily offer live broadcasts. Google emphasizes offering modern and well-known titles rather than older or low-budget content. Users with compatible smart TVs can access the service directly through the built-in app, enjoying high-quality entertainment without any subscription costs.
