Maccabi Haifa Secures Loan Deal for Goalkeeper Omer Nir'on with Purchase Option

Maccabi Haifa is set to announce the signing of goalkeeper Omer Nir'on after reaching an agreement with Maccabi Netanya following two months of negotiations. Haifa will pay 100,000 euros for Nir'on's loan, with the player earning approximately 150,000 euros for the season. The club holds an option to purchase him at the end of the season for 250,000 euros.

Nir'on, who underwent shoulder surgery last summer and has not played since January, will undergo comprehensive medical tests before being officially presented by Maccabi Haifa. He was initially expected to replace Sheriff Kiyof, who suffered an Achilles tendon injury ending his season and was slated for a loan to Hapoel Ramat Gan. Despite interest from Ramat Gan, Nir'on chose to join Haifa.

Nir'on's career includes youth play at Maccabi Tel Aviv, a move to Bnei Yehuda where he became the first-choice goalkeeper at 19, and a loan to Hapoel Ramat Hasharon in the second division. Over the past three seasons, he has been Maccabi Netanya's goalkeeper, experiencing ups and downs. If his medical tests are clear, Glen Alwin will return as the third goalkeeper, and Mark Golenkov, who has been training with the senior team, will move back to the youth squad as the new season begins.
