Maccabi Haifa Signs Goalkeeper Omer Nir'on on Loan from Maccabi Netanya

Maccabi Haifa officially announced the loan signing of goalkeeper Omer Nir'on from Maccabi Netanya for the 2026/27 season. Nir'on, 25, will serve as the backup goalkeeper to Omri Glazer, replacing Sheriff Kiouf who ended his season due to injury. Haifa paid 100,000 euros for the loan and holds a purchase option of 250,000 euros. Nir'on's salary for the upcoming season is approximately 150,000 euros.

Nir'on completed extensive medical tests before signing, following shoulder surgery last summer that sidelined him since January. He developed through Maccabi Tel Aviv and Bnei Yehuda, with loan spells at Hapoel Rishon LeZion, Hapoel Ramat HaSharon, Zrinjski, and Maccabi Netanya, where he was the first-choice keeper until his injury. He was also part of Israel's Olympic squad at Paris 2024, starting all group stage matches, and has been called up to the senior national team but has yet to make an official appearance.

Maccabi Haifa has already signed several players this summer, including Omri Glazer, Nigel Lonwijk, Anderson Tsunami, Bruninho, Yair Mordechai, and Andrea Novakovic. Nir'on is their seventh signing and third Israeli acquisition this transfer window. After signing, Nir'on expressed enthusiasm about joining a major club with significant challenges ahead. Mark Golenkov will return to the youth team, while Glen Alwin will be the third-choice goalkeeper.

The club's move aims to strengthen its goalkeeping options following Kiouf's injury, ensuring depth for the upcoming season in the Israeli Premier League.
