Maccabi Haifa Secures Goalkeeper Omer Nir'on on Loan with Purchase Option

Maccabi Haifa is set to announce the signing of goalkeeper Omer Nir'on after reaching an agreement with Maccabi Netanya following two months of negotiations. Haifa will pay 100,000 euros for Nir'on's loan, with the player earning approximately 150,000 euros for the season. The club holds an option to purchase him at the end of the season for 250,000 euros. Nir'on will undergo comprehensive medical tests due to a shoulder surgery he had last summer and has not played since January. Once cleared, he will be officially presented by the club.

Nir'on was brought in to replace Sharif Kiyof, who was expected to be loaned to Hapoel Ramat Gan but suffered an Achilles tendon injury, ending his season. Although Nir'on attracted interest from Ramat Gan, he chose to join Maccabi Haifa. His career includes youth play at Maccabi Tel Aviv, a stint as the first-choice goalkeeper at Bnei Yehuda at age 19, and a loan to Hapoel Ramat Hasharon in the second division. Over the past three seasons, he was Maccabi Netanya's goalkeeper, experiencing ups and downs.

If Nir'on passes his medical exams, Glen Alwin will return to his role as the third goalkeeper, and Mark Golenkov, who has trained with the senior team recently, will move back to the youth squad as the new season begins.
