Google Unveils Pixel 11 Series Featuring Tensor G6 Chip and Gemini AI

Google officially announced its Pixel 11 smartphone series during an event in New York, introducing three flagship models: Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, and Pixel 11 Pro XL. These devices are powered by the new Tensor G6 processor, delivering a 50% boost in processing power to run the advanced Gemini Nano AI model directly on the phone. The series showcases an updated glass design, including a thinner camera bump on the base model and a new LED notification ring called HiLight on the Pro models, which signals calls and assistant activity without needing to look at the screen.

The Pixel 11 series also features enhanced durability with scratch-resistant polished glass and a Super Actua display on the Pro models, reaching a peak brightness of 3,600 nits. Battery life has improved significantly to 30 hours, supported by more efficient power consumption and Qi 2.2 wireless fast charging. Photography capabilities have advanced with Magic Capture, an AI-driven automatic mode that selects the best moments without user input, and a Night Sight mode that is 4.5 times faster than before.

Google integrated its Gemini AI to enable proactive assistant functions, such as ordering groceries or rides, with improved voice recognition that filters speech hesitations. The system adapts to user habits and provides real-time insights on the lock screen, like restaurant menus or flight updates. However, Google has removed the 128GB storage option, starting all models at 256GB, which has led to higher starting prices: $899 for Pixel 11, $1,099 for Pixel 11 Pro, and $1,299 for Pixel 11 Pro XL. The phones are available for pre-order globally and will officially launch on August 20, offered in new colors including Obsidian Matte, Olive, and Pistachio.
