Peace Council Launches Monitoring Mechanism to Address Gaza Agreement Violations

Nikolay Mladenov, Director-General of the Peace Council, announced the activation of a new mechanism to monitor violations of the agreement in Gaza. He stated that every breach will be addressed promptly. Mladenov also denied allegations of financial transactions between the Peace Council and Hamas, calling such claims false and emphasizing that no such proposals have been discussed or negotiated, nor will they be in the future.

He clarified that the Peace Council's funds are not transferred through Hamas, and all contracts undergo thorough checks and approvals. Mladenov stressed that Israel is not required to rely on trust or take irreversible steps before verified actions are taken on the ground. The ultimate goal remains the complete disarmament of Gaza and ensuring it never again poses a threat like the one Israel experienced on October 7.

These statements come amid repeated violations of the ceasefire arrangement in Gaza. Recently, Hamas militants crossed the "yellow line," stole engineering equipment, and returned to the "red zone" after Israeli forces were denied permission to eliminate them. Over the past week, there have been more than 65 such crossings, tripling the number recorded since political directives were issued to curb fire. The situation underscores ongoing tensions and challenges in maintaining the ceasefire and security along the Gaza border.
