Israeli Minister Shlomo Karhi Opposes Voting Rights for Israelis Abroad to Prevent Anti-Netanyahu Influence

Minister Shlomo Karhi of the Likud party stated that Israelis living abroad should not be allowed to vote in Israeli elections. Speaking on Radio 103, Karhi argued that the left-wing is attempting to mobilize large numbers of overseas voters to change the government solely due to opposition to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. When asked why Israel does not permit absentee voting like other countries, Karhi responded that only those residing in Israel should influence its future. He emphasized that any Jew is welcome to immigrate to Israel and participate in building the country, but those not living there should not try to alter its leadership from abroad.
