Recent reports suggesting that former NBA MVP Russell Westbrook was in talks to join Hapoel Tel Aviv have been strongly denied by credible sources. Mark Stein, a leading NBA reporter, cited an insider who called the claims "ridiculously false," confirming that Westbrook will not be moving to Israel. Another NBA journalist, Brett Siegel, also expressed skepticism after contacting multiple league sources, none of whom had heard of any discussions between Westbrook and the Israeli club.

Earlier reports from the United States had indicated mutual interest and advancing talks between Westbrook and Hapoel Tel Aviv. However, the Israeli team had previously denied any negotiations with the 37-year-old guard. Westbrook, who completed last season with the Sacramento Kings averaging 15.2 points, 6.7 assists, and 5.4 rebounds per game, remains a free agent.
