Woman Killed by Driver Who Crashed into Store at Hadera Mall

A woman in her 60s from Hadera was fatally struck by a vehicle this Wednesday morning at the Mix shopping complex in the city. The driver, also a local resident, apparently lost control of the car, fatally hitting the pedestrian who was crossing at a designated crosswalk, before crashing into the Idan 2000 store.

Deputy Commander Ayman Barkat of the Hadera police station confirmed the victim was crossing legally when hit. Paramedics found her unconscious, without pulse or breathing, and despite medical efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Firefighters had to extricate her from beneath the vehicle.

Police and traffic accident investigators from the Menashe region are probing the incident. Authorities are examining whether the driver began moving toward the exit, struck the pedestrian on the crosswalk, then confused the pedals and crashed into the store. The victim’s son is currently abroad, and efforts are underway to locate him.

The driver has been detained for questioning as the investigation continues.
