Israeli Dentist in Beersheba Investigated for Tax Evasion Over 10 Million Shekels

The Israeli Tax Authority, through its National Unit for Investigations and Crime Fighting (Yahalom) and the National Bookkeeping Officer, is investigating Raed Albaz, a dentist and owner of the "Dr. Albaz" clinic in Beersheba, on suspicion of serious tax offenses. Analysis of Albaz's business bank account revealed deposits significantly exceeding the amounts he reported to the tax authorities. The discrepancy between deposits and reported income from 2020 to 2025 totals approximately 10.65 million shekels.

Additionally, Albaz is suspected of omitting real estate assets valued at about 2.4 million shekels from his 2022 asset declaration. Another allegation involves false reporting of his residence; he reportedly changed his address from Tel Sheva to Omer without notifying authorities, allowing him to benefit from an 18% tax credit linked to his registered residence.

The investigation became public after court orders authorized the seizure of documents from Albaz's home and legal representative. Albaz appeared before Judge Rafi Arnia at the Magistrate's Court in Rishon Lezion, who released him under restrictive conditions agreed upon by both parties. These conditions include a personal surety of 300,000 shekels, a third-party surety of 200,000 shekels, a 50,000 shekel deposit, a 180-day travel ban, and surrender of his passport. The investigation is ongoing.
