Chef Ron Yohananov Faces Online Backlash After Joining Channel 14 Cooking Show

Chef and food blogger Ron Yohananov, host of the third season of the cooking show "Shabbat Flavors" on Channel 14, responded publicly to a wave of unfollows on social media following his collaboration with the channel. Yohananov clarified that he is not politically affiliated and emphasized that the show is purely about cooking, aiming to reach new audiences with his recipes ahead of the season premiere on September 4. He addressed the boycott directly, stating, "Livelihood is from God, it doesn't bother me at all."

Yohananov criticized the hypocrisy of those who unfollowed him, noting that he did not experience similar backlash when working with other major Israeli channels like Keshet 12 or Channel 13. He described himself as a secular believer who simply loves cooking and bringing joy through food, adding that his heart is open to everyone.

Despite the attempts to harm his reputation, Yohananov announced that the new season will be filmed in Kiryat Shmona in northern Israel, a region that has endured conflict over the past three years. He expressed a sense of national mission in uplifting the northern community through his work.

The boycott attempt ultimately boosted Yohananov's Instagram exposure, with his post garnering over 141,000 views and thousands of interactions. Many followers condemned the cancel culture, defending his right to work and expressing support for his show on Channel 14.
