Venezuela's Chief Rabbi Urges President to Consider Renewing Diplomatic Ties with Israel

Isaac Cohen, the Chief Rabbi of Venezuela, has proposed to President Delcy Rodriguez the idea of reconsidering the restoration of diplomatic relations with Israel. This suggestion was conveyed during a meeting with Venezuela's Foreign Minister Felix Plasencia Gonzalez in Caracas. The proposal aims primarily to address the needs of the Jewish community in Venezuela, which has been welcomed and has contributed significantly to the country's welfare and development over the years.

Foreign Minister Plasencia Gonzalez shared details of the meeting on social media, emphasizing Venezuela's historical hospitality towards its Jewish population. He also expressed gratitude for Israel's assistance following the devastating double earthquake in late June. Israel sent a relief delegation to Venezuela to assess damaged buildings, evaluate structural impacts, and prepare emergency responses.

The minister highlighted that the emergency aid from Israel, combined with the dialogue initiated by the Chief Rabbi, could foster closer ties between the two nations. He concluded by stating that this dialogue strengthens mutual respect, cooperation, and recognition between the peoples of Venezuela and Israel.
