Venezuela's Chief Rabbi Urges President to Renew Diplomatic Ties with Israel

Venezuela's Chief Rabbi, Isaac Cohen, has formally requested President Delcy Rodriguez to consider restoring diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Israel. The request was delivered during a meeting with Foreign and International Trade Minister Felix Plasencia Gonzalez at the Foreign Ministry headquarters in Caracas on Sunday. The initiative aims to address the needs of Venezuela's Jewish community, which has historically been welcomed and contributed significantly to the country's development, according to Minister Plasencia Gonzalez.

The minister also expressed gratitude for Israel's humanitarian assistance following the double earthquake on June 24. An Israeli aid delegation was sent to Venezuela to assess collapsed buildings, evaluate structural damages, and develop urgent emergency response plans. Plasencia Gonzalez emphasized that this dialogue strengthens mutual respect, cooperation, and recognition between the two peoples. The appeal reflects ongoing efforts to rebuild diplomatic and cultural ties after years of strained relations.
