Yalla Galil Festival Canceled in Bu'eine Nujeidat Over Eden Ben Zaken's Participation

The Yalla Galil festival, scheduled to take place in the Druze village of Bu'eine Nujeidat, was canceled due to the participation of Israeli singer Eden Ben Zaken. The local council head, Nazih Dabur, explained the cancellation was a precaution to prevent potential violence after threats from nearby Muslim villages. According to Dabur, the decision was made to avoid bloodshed and ensure the community's safety, emphasizing that power lies in preventing violence rather than imposing one group's will on another.

Dabur detailed that local sheikhs opposed Ben Zaken's performance, fearing it would attract Muslims from neighboring villages, which they wanted to prevent. Threats reportedly included blocking roads and throwing Molotov cocktails, with religious leaders rallying youth against the event through prayers. The festival's official website announced the postponement of all performances, which also included the band The Project of Revivo.

In a message to residents, Dabur stressed respect for differing opinions and religious sentiments but condemned the use of threats or force to influence decisions. He stated the council's responsibility is to protect all residents and that the cancellation does not represent a concession or victory for any side. The festival will be rescheduled when conditions ensure public safety and respect for all community members' rights. Dabur called for unity within the village, highlighting the importance of coexistence between religious and secular residents.

No official response has been received from Eden Ben Zaken regarding the cancellation.
