Israel strikes Hezbollah targets in Beirut’s Dahieh after drone attack
Lebanese media reported explosions Sunday afternoon in Beirut’s Dahieh district, and shortly afterward Israel confirmed that the Israel Defense Forces had carried out a strike there. The attack came after Hezbollah launched three drones that exploded inside Israeli territory, including at least one that detonated near homes in the Western Galilee community of Shlomi.
In a joint statement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz said the strike was ordered in response to Hezbollah fire at Israel. The statement said the IDF was hitting “terror targets” belonging to Hezbollah in Dahieh, and added, “Israel will not tolerate fire into its territory.”
No further details were immediately provided about the extent of the damage, possible casualties, or which specific targets were hit.
