Russian-Israeli Historian Disappears After Landing in Israel
Artyom Kirpichonok, a 51-year-old Russian historian with Israeli citizenship, has gone missing after arriving in Israel last week. Kirpichonok landed on a flight from Yerevan, Armenia, intending to attend an event to which he was invited. Since his arrival, he has not contacted any friends or associates, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
Born in Saint Petersburg, Kirpichonok immigrated to Israel in the 1990s and graduated from the Hebrew University. About 15 years after moving to Israel, he returned to live in Russia. Over time, he became highly critical of Israel and Zionism, frequently writing against the state.
Friends have appealed on social media for any information regarding his location. The Russian Embassy in Israel has reportedly contacted Israeli authorities about Kirpichonok's disappearance but has yet to receive a response.
