International Airlines Gradually Resume Flights to Israel as Airspace Reopens

Following a significant reduction in flights over Israel during recent security operations, dozens of foreign airlines have resumed service to Ben Gurion Airport. Airlines such as Wizz Air, Lufthansa, Air France, and Condor have returned, with American carriers Delta and United Airlines scheduled to restart flights in September. This gradual reopening began shortly after the start of Operation "Roaring Lion," with some airlines maintaining limited service throughout, including HiFly and Electra Airways operating for Israeli carriers.

Throughout the spring and summer, additional airlines resumed flights, including ALK Airlines, Tus Airways, Uzbekistan Airways, Etihad, Ethiopian Airlines, and several Greek carriers like Sky Express and Aegean. May and June saw further returns from TAROM, Azerbaijan Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Bulgaria Air, Neos, Air Europa, and Valletta Airlines. July marked a notable increase with AirBaltic, Lufthansa, ITA Airways, Air France, and Eurowings rejoining, followed by Swiss, Condor, and Brussels Airlines in August.

Looking ahead, Animawings plans to restart flights to Bucharest, while Delta and United will resume their New York routes in early September, addressing the recent shortage of direct flights to the U.S. In addition to passenger flights, air cargo operations continue robustly with companies like El Al Cargo, DHL, Kalitta Air, and Ethiopian Cargo active at Ben Gurion. The overall trend indicates a phased recovery of international aviation to Israel, though flight schedules remain subject to change based on security conditions and airline decisions.
