Four Children Die in Separate Tragedies Across Israel and Mexico in One Day

The first day of the final week of Bein Hazmanim was marked by four tragic deaths of children and teenagers in separate incidents across Israel and Mexico. The day began with the news from Mexico of the death of 4-year-old Shalom Seginer, who drowned in a pool during a family vacation in San Jose del Cabo. Despite prolonged resuscitation efforts by local rescue teams, he was pronounced dead. Shalom was the son of Rabbi Asaf and Rivka Seginer and grandson of Rabbi Shalom Arush, head of the "Thread of Kindness" institutions.

Later in the day, a 5-year-old boy named Betzalel David Giller died in Lod after being left unconscious in a family car for about two hours. The family had returned from a trip, and Betzalel fell asleep in his seat unnoticed. His father found him unconscious with severe heatstroke symptoms, and despite resuscitation and hospital care, he passed away. Betzalel was the son of Rabbi Menashe Giller, a prominent member of the Chabad community in Lod.

In the afternoon, a 12-year-old boy, Elchanan Karni from Modi'in Illit, went missing while boating on the Jordan River near Yesod HaMa'ala during a family-organized trip. Extensive search efforts by fire and rescue teams, police, and volunteers ended with the discovery of Elchanan's body in the water. He was the son of Rabbi Israel Karni, a respected Breslov Hasid in Brachfeld.

The day concluded with the death of 16-year-old Yehonatan Klimian from Katzrin, a student at the Hesfin Yeshiva High School, who fell from a height of 30 to 40 meters during a rappelling activity near Keshet Cave in the Western Galilee. Rescue teams, including Unit 669, attempted advanced medical treatment on site but were unable to save him. The yeshiva expressed shock and sorrow over his tragic death.

These four devastating incidents, occurring within less than 24 hours, left four families and their communities in mourning, marking a profoundly difficult day during the Bein Hazmanim period.
