Three Children Die in Separate Accidents Across Israel During Summer Vacation

A series of tragic incidents involving children and teenagers occurred across Israel on Sunday. In Lod, a 5-year-old boy died after reportedly being left in a family car for about two hours. The child was found unconscious with signs of heatstroke. Despite advanced resuscitation efforts by Magen David Adom (MDA) teams and transport to Shamir Medical Center, doctors declared him dead. Initial investigations suggest the family returned home while the boy, who had fallen asleep during the drive, remained in the vehicle. The father discovered the boy missing about two hours later and found him unconscious in the car.

Later in the afternoon, 12-year-old Elhanan Karni from Modiin Illit was found dead in the Jordan River near Yesod HaMaala. He had gone missing while on a family outing on a watercraft. Police, rescue teams, and a helicopter from the aerial unit conducted extensive searches. The Golan rescue unit located him, and MDA paramedics confirmed his death at the scene.

A few hours afterward, 16-year-old Yehonatan Ephraim Klimian from Katzrin died after falling approximately 30-40 meters during a rappelling activity in Keshet Cave in the Western Galilee. MDA paramedics provided advanced life-saving treatment on site, and rescue teams coordinated the operation. Despite prolonged resuscitation efforts, the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.
