12-Year-Old Elhanan Karni Drowns During Family Vacation in Jordan River

Elhanan Karni, a 12-year-old boy from Modiin Illit, tragically drowned while on a family vacation near the Jordan River in northern Israel. The incident occurred close to Yesod HaMaala, where Elhanan went missing while on a boat. Rescue teams, including emergency services and ZAKA volunteers from the northern district, conducted extensive searches before finding him lifeless. Medical teams confirmed his death at the scene.

Elhanan was a student at the Breslov Talmud Torah in the Barkefeld neighborhood and was expected to enter eighth grade. His school described him as a beloved, diligent, and well-mannered child. The tragedy deeply affects the Breslov community, which recently mourned another loss when Moshe Glinsky, also a student at the same Talmud Torah, died in a car accident on the 17th of Tammuz.

The fathers of both boys studied together in a kollel, adding to the community's grief. Details about Elhanan Karni's funeral will be announced later. The community and rescue volunteers continue to cope with this devastating loss.
