Deputy Mayor Accuses Ichilov Hospital Staff of Neglect and Threats Over Patient Care
Deputy Mayor of Elad and attorney Yaniv Badalov filed a formal complaint against Ichilov Medical Center staff, alleging severe misconduct in the emergency department. According to Badalov, an elderly female patient was left bleeding from her arm for over half an hour without treatment, with blood pooling on the floor beneath her. When he alerted the staff, a nurse denied the bleeding and attempted to remove him from the area, even summoning hospital security and the hospital's security officer.
Badalov further claimed that a doctor conditioned treatment for his father on Badalov leaving the department, reportedly stating, "As long as you do not leave the department, your father will not receive treatment." Badalov responded that he intended to pursue legal and disciplinary action against the doctor, who later portrayed this as a threat. Additionally, Badalov said a hospital security officer advised him to transfer his father to another hospital, warning that treatment would not be provided otherwise.
In his complaint, Badalov demanded a disciplinary investigation into the nurse, doctor, and other involved staff, as well as a thorough inquiry into the treatment of the elderly patient and his father's rights. He requested written updates on the investigation's progress and outcomes.
The Ichilov Medical Center responded that the incident is under comprehensive review by all relevant hospital authorities. They stated that conclusions and any necessary actions will be determined once the investigation concludes, expected in the coming days.
Deputy Mayor Badalov described the situation to Channel 7 as "medicine under extortion," equating the refusal to treat unless he left the department to "terror."
